Neapolitan Valentine’s Day Chocolate Bark

02.04.13

Neapolitan Valentines Bark

Even as a kid, I’ve always loved Valentine’s Day. I know, it’s a Hallmark holiday and sucks when you’re single, but I’ve always associated it with candy. If you’re a sugar fiend like me, your Halloween candy has long since run out, and it’s time to restock!

To me, the only thing better than candy is homemade candy. I’m a big fan of chocolate bark. In fact, you may remember this recipe that I posted a few weeks ago, and I wanted to do something similar for Valentine’s Day. In the past, I’ve made festive pink and red chocolate bark with candy melts. While they were cute, they tasted kind of like sugary wax.

Red Velvet Cake Milkshake Shooters

01.28.13

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and this is one milkshake that will bring all the boys to the yard.

I know, lame joke, but I just had to get that out of my system. Now, on to more important things, like milkshakes! More specifically, cute little milkshakes in shot glasses. And it gets even better- they taste like cake! After seeing these mini milkshake shooters on heygorg.com, I knew I wanted to make a version of these for Valentine’s day. I started by dipping the rims of some shot glasses in melted white chocolate, and then coating them with mini heart sprinkles.

Vegan Whole Wheat Chocolate Chunk Raspberry Drop Scones

01.21.13

Scones get a bad rap.

Generally, when I ask people if they like scones, they say no. And when I ask why, the standard answer is, “they’re dry.” Well sure, who likes dry scones? Not me. But then again, I’m generally not a fan of dry baked goods. My guess it that if you don’t like scones, you’ve probably had a stale one from a not so great bakery, or tried to make one from a mix. But when it comes to scones, there’s nothing like fresh out of the oven and made from scratch.

If you’re intimidated by making scones from scratch, don’t be. This recipe is easier than a mix! It comes together in a few minutes, and I didn’t even bother to roll it out. The dough was soft, so I just used a measuring cup to drop it onto cookie sheets. These are truly a lazy girl’s scone.
